About us

The founder and concertmaster of the Belgrade Chamber Orchestra

Miljana Popović Materni

After working in the fields of symphonic and chamber music for a long period of time, and an abundance of concerts and collaborations (both nationally and around the world), I have decided to combine my experience and enthusiasm, and form an ensemble with my highly esteemed colleagues.

BCO is a chamber orchestra that will, in the most polished and beautiful way possible, present classical music pieces! All of the members have known and collaborated with each other for a long time. This connection, as well as the dedication of the entire orchestra, allows us to have the best results possible. I look forward to upcoming concerts and an unforgettable chapter in all of our professional lives!

I am very excited and pleased to be Artist in Residence of newly founded Belgrade Chamber Orchestra! Throughout our work together in Italy on Brixen Festival I have learned the true potential of young and dynamic players of the BCO and am convinced they will raise the bar of Belgrade’s and world’s classical music scene!

With special accent on bringing my experience from best German orchestras to this new ensemble there is no limit to what we can achieve together!

A few words from BCO Artistic Director

Daniel Geiss

The newly founded BCO (Belgrade Chamber Orchestra) brings together the best musicians of Serbia: dynamic, qualified, ambitious!

My vision is to lead this sophisticated ensemble to the highest artistic perfection and anchor it deeply in the capital’s cultural awareness.

In this endeavor, I am also planning an intensive collaboration with the extremely lively scene of Serbian composers.

The Belgrade audience should recognize this chamber orchestra as the highest achievement of Serbian musical culture, and understand its immense charisma as an ambassador to the world.

This is the direction I plan on following, in order to include this group of artists at various festivals around the world. This summer at the Brixen Classics in Italy, where we will be giving concerts as Orchestra in Residence for two weeks with world stars such as Camilla Nylund, Piotre Beczala and Albrecht Meyer. Further concerts in Germany and China are already being planned.
