
Aleksandar Latković
Cello leader
Aleksandar Latković has become principal cellist of Belgrade Philharmonic in 2003 and has performed with this orchestra in Europe and the US, including Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and Carnegie Hall, under conductors Zubin Mehta, Uroš Lajovic, Muhai Tang and Gabriel Feltz. Aleksandar has also played at numerous occasions as soloist with the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has also toured Europe as a guest member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under conductors Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, and Daniel Harding.
As a member and co-founder of Belgrade Philharmonic String Quartet since 2011, Aleksandar has performed with this ensemble at festivals such as Silver Lyre in St Petersburg, Abu Dhabi Classics, and in Paris, Harbin, Tian Jin, and Izmir.
Former student of Ivan Poparić in Belgrade, Manfred Stilz and Masha Yanushevskaya in Paris, and Mario Brunello in Brescia, Aleksandar Laković has been teaching cello at Cetinje Music Academy, Montenegro, coaching young cellists for youth orchestras of the Slokar Academy in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and JuniOrchestra (Youth Orchestra of Santa Cecilia) in Rome, and regularly teaches cello at Strings Festival Perast, Montenegro.
